the reply all problem
Many apps have this awkward design problem. When one person replies to another person in a public place such as a slack channel, reply all to an email, or make a comment to a particular person in a meeting, etc... should you notify everyone? Or should you have a passive notification?
You could say it depends on if the use an @
, but many times people don't use that and reply by name, and names are ambigious by nature.
Although it's a bit fiddly I think I like Twist's solution of letting you customize who you notify, YET still keeping things transperent.
But I also think that the idea of using Threads instead of Chatrooms is really good because any time you mix topics inside of one box you end up with bad notifications. The reason is simple, because people can't subscribe to one particular topic, they are forced to listen to any topic.
