Backbone of communication
A backbone of communication is the primary place that communication happens, which usually becomes the Single Source of Truth of where all information is stored.
Problem is, Slack is addictive, and therefore organizations go Group Chat first, because "That's where work happens".
But in reality it's more of a Notification Hub or even a 911 line. At the very least it's not a good place to store any kind of information, and often ruins the most interesting property of writing.
