Slack's broken hierarchy of priority

Priority:

  1. Newest messages are shown first
  2. GIFs are the most eye catching AND dominate vertical space
  3. Images also dominate vertical space
  4. Large messages also dominate vertical space but are actually not as powerful as you think because often people are trained to be so A.D.D. when it comes to reading stuff in Slack they are unlikely to finish even one large paragraph
  5. @channel and less so @here which are often people who just want faster responses rather than signifying real emergencies.
  6. Group Chats and Private messages are higher priority than channels, even though they they shouldn't be due to being disruptive (hey will notify you on every message by default) to Deep Work and destroy transparency.
