Guilt of Backlogs

It’s unbelievable how often the word ā€œguiltā€ comes up when talking to people who do issue-based, reactive work.

There’s more work than time, the work comes from other people, and it’s hard to ignore it, delete it, or say ā€˜no.’

Long lists or backlogs aren’t inherently bad.

What makes them bad is the feeling of guilt when you see all these issues you couldn’t solve or fix, and you know there will never be time for them.

~Ryan Singer ref
