Fisher Price Design

In the blog post: HEY!'s design they talk about "Fisher Price Design". They also mention that they try to avoid 3 column layouts, notification dots, etc... as much as possible to respect the user's attention. To give them peace of mind.

I love the idea of Simplicity and showing how when you have a simple thing as 3 columns you are essentially saying, "You have to look at 3 thing right now" there's no focus. And I know what you're thinking, "We'll just let them collapse the sidebar" but this is just configuration as a UX cop-out. You aren't solving the real problem! If I have to constantly close the sidebar just to get focus you've failed as a designer.
