'easier to ask then find' problem

In Slack's Design, but also in many other contexts, it's often easier to ask a person for a piece of information than it is to look for it. Why is this a problem? Mostly because you're forcing the person to context switch which causes them to break their concentration and prevents Deep Work.

While this is a problem in general when there's not enough friction in design, Slack makes this all the easier with Slack's design of it's input box V.S. Basecamp.

This can also happen in code when it's hasn't been properly organized and needs Refactoring.
